'The Jacobite' Sporran
$349.00

The Jacobite- Historical Sporran

Past to Present

This sporran is a faithful tribute to 18th century Highland dress, made from hand aged, bark tanned deerskin. The same kind of leather used over 280 years ago. It’s strong, water resistant, and made to last a lifetime.

Made for Real Life

Tough enough for daily wear or a hike through the mountains, this sporran is built to handle the elements. The leather ages beautifully and looks even better with use. Every stitch is done by hand using waxed linen thread. The edge of the bag is finished with a whipstitch, just like in original Jacobite era examples.

Authentic Details

  • Rolled edges on the flap and belt loop

  • Diced basket weave pattern woven into the flap

  • Hand tied knots on tassels and buttons

Grounded in Research

This design was created after carefully studying original sporrans, museum pieces, and historical portraits. It’s more than a replica, it’s a wearable piece of history.

'The Reiver' Sporran
$299.00

The Reiver- Jacobite Style Sporran

Past to Present

Inspired by the 18th century cattle reivers, this is the most functional sporran we’ve crafted yet. While accurate enough for historical reenactment, it's also made for real life adventures. Whether that’s hiking remote trails, heading to the local pub, or (hypothetically) stealing cattle from a neighboring clan under the cover of darkness.

Rooted in the 18th Century
Made from hand aged, bark tanned deerskin, this sporran honors the craftsmanship of the 18th century. Here at Sturgeon Leatherworks, we use the very same kind of leather used nearly three centuries ago. Naturally durable and water resistant, it’s designed to endure a lifetime of use. The deerskin develops more character the longer you use it, and every stitch is sewn by hand using waxed linen thread.

Authentic Craftsmanship

  • Rolled edges on the flap and belt loop

  • Hand stitched bag

  • Diced basket weave pattern hand-woven into the flap

  • Hand-tied tassels and button knot

Historical reference

The shape of this sporran draws inspiration from a wood carving made in the 18th century, found on a Northern island in Scotland. I’ve added a basket weave pattern along the edge on the sporran as seen in other sporran designs from this period.
